As allegedly used in WWII by the Germans against unwanted populations of Jews, Gypsies, Catholics and homosexuals, the technique of gassing victims and then incinerating the corpses at first appeared to be the most effective method of reducing the spread of disease. However, long burn times delayed the Holocaust and contributed to shortages of fuel oils, so sources tell us that eventually the industrious Germans opted for simply shooting the undesirables and pitching the bodies into mass graves. Future Holocausts should consider the problem of disposal carefully, but should not forget the "fire model" as it provides for the most complete removal.
